Founded in 1995, Éditions Akoma Mba is the oldest publishing house specialising in illustrated albums and comic strips in Central Africa. Its primary aim is to promote Africa and universal African values to young children through innovative editorial content. The publisher boasts a catalogue of around one hundred titles, published in several languages, including French, English, and various local languages.

Akoma Mba distributes its books in Cameroon and internationally. Its authors hail from Belgium, Benin, Brazil, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Togo, and other countries.

Éditions Akoma Mba has received several international awards for its albums, including recognition from the Munich International Library, UNICEF in Dakar, and IBBY International. Madoulina by Joël Eboueme Bognomo won the Children’s Literature Prize of Honour, awarded by the American publisher Boyds Mills Press.

Akoma Mba participates in various international book fairs and exhibitions, including those in Bologna (Italy), Montreuil and Paris (France), FIBDA in Algeria, Frankfurt (Germany), Casablanca (Morocco), and Fildak in Dakar. The publishing house also organises an International Fair for Children’s Books and Comics in Yaoundé (SALIJEY).
